Mario Luciano & Lauren Santi - Shades Of Mauve

I’ve really been enjoying these Madlib Invasion Library Series releases since the first one dropped last June. The concept is to provide a host of musicians, composers and producers with a platform to explore their musical horizons in the format of, you guessed it, a library record.

This one is probably my favourite so far, a collaboration between Mario Luciano (who has had a run of impressive production credits for the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Conway the Machine & Drake to name just a few) and vocalist Lauren Santi. The result is a 30 mins of psych tinged Jazz & Soul, which is mainly beat-less and built around wandering Rhodes keys, soothing strings and Laurens slightly weirded out vocal harmonies. For me it’s definitely best listened all the way through in one and is perfect for those mornings where you just wanna ease your way into the day.

This one is number 8 of 12 in the series, with one released on Bandcamp Friday each month so the last one will be out in a couple of weeks - go and check here as there is definitely something for everyone… or at least your sampler, if you’re that way inclined.
